Menstrual hygiene education is crucial in empowering individuals, particularly young girls and women, by providing them with accurate information about the natural biological process of menstruation. Understanding the physiological changes that occur during menstruation can help alleviate anxiety, confusion, and misconceptions surrounding this topic. Empowering young girls with knowledge about their bodies is crucial. Miss Harshitha Praveen, the student well-being expert, was invited to Amanora School to conduct a workshop on Friday 12th April 2024 for the girls of Grade VII on ‘Body Awareness Education’ that included Menstrual Awareness and Hygiene. The aim was to provide a safe space for girls to learn about their bodies, understand changes they may experience, and foster a sense of confidence and empowerment. The lecture covered puberty, menstruation, hygiene, and self-care. In an interactive session guided by informative presentations, videos, and animated graphics, girls were encouraged to ask questions and engage in open discussions. Practical tips on maintaining good hygiene practices and dealing with body changes were also shared. The lecture emphasized the importance of self-respect, body positivity, and the ability to set boundaries. Overall, the Body Awareness Education guest lecture was a resounding success, empowering young girls with the knowledge and tools they need to embrace their bodies and navigate the challenges of growing up with confidence and resilience.
